There are no bears in New Zealand but if there were we're pretty sure they'd look like our Oso. The story of Manuka honey began in 1839 when Mary Bumby introduced the first honey bees to New Zealand which she transported by ship for over six months from England.

What is Manuka Honey?

The Mānuka plant has been traditionally used as a wellness remedy for centuries by the Māori of New Zealand. In 1980, a biochemist discovered the antibacterial properties unique to Mānuka, and a global “gold rush” began.

It’s important to note that in order for honey to be labelled Mānuka, it must pass stringent chemical and DNA testing by New Zealand’s Ministry for Primary Industries.

Manuka Honey for Skin

Manuka honey is famous by board-certified dermatologists as a natural skin care acne treatment. It has several vitamins, amino acids, and it also contains hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide lightens hyperpigmentation as well as decreases acne scars. All three elements (MGO, DHA, and hydrogen peroxide) promote healthy and glowy skin.
